Tuza Art Installation

2014

The Artistic Instalation Tuza  is an investigation project in electronic art developed in the hypermedia laboratory of Universidad del Valle. This project explores forms of processing and transform sounds and pictures in the musical instruments of the Tuza ceramics production from pre-hispanic colombian communities between 1250 and 1550.

These sounds were collected from the original archeological pieces at the Museo Arqueológico Julio César Cubillos of Universidad del Valle. Then digital processed, based on the idea of sound as cultural heritage. The installation creates an immersive environment wherein public gets to interact with sensory objects, modifying the audiovisual atmosphere. The project’s main goal is to create an interactive and artistic space through joining technologies from distant worlds, sound artifacts of clay and electronic devices, to generate aesthetic experiences that allow an approachment to prehispanic sound and art, granting the acknowledge of cultural production from such communities.
