Instrumentos Expandidos is a work born as workshop used as meeting place between different kind of knowledges, blending ancestral music from colombian pacific along tools and contemporary technological media.
The work recognize the origin, history and manufacturing techniques of pacific instruments, merging them with a serie of technological possibilities in both software and hardware, through sensors, wires, programming, etc. This sinergies allowed to generate transformations and expansions to new instrument aesthetics like: El Cununo, la Marimba, el Guasá y el Bombo.
The work was inaugurated in 2015 at Tecnocentro Cultural Somos Pacífico, a staging when the expanded instruments were used and where the inhabitants from Potrero Grande, Aguablanca district in Santiago de Cali (Colombia), found themselves accompanied by colombian pacific sounds fused with electronic art.
